This is a custom poplar and cherry hardwood closet which is a work of art.
The challenge on this project was a small six by six foot closet, with a hang rod on the right wall that blocked part of the window and a beautiful built in chest of drawers that blocks the door from fully opening.
Even so, the window and high ceilings are big pluses for this space.
The keys to this design were relocating the hang above the chest of drawers and using shelves with varying depths on the right.
Shown below is new upper case with compartments for hanging skirts and blouses, and upper shelves for beautiful decorative storage boxes. The deep case hides the hanger shoulders for a “boutique” feel.
On the right we have our shelf cabinets that step out in depth, with the minimum at the window and maximum at the center vanity. The upper half of the right side is shown below.
The vanity features a solid cherry top with a drawer and a dog eared cup pull that matches the drawers in the existing chest.
Plus we took advantage of the space behind the door for a shoe cabinet, located to the right of the door mirror in the photo below.
The cabinets are made of poplar with a Ben Moore Dove White Satin Impervo enamel finish. Shelving is solid cherry with a Minwax Dark Walnut stain.
Cabinets are trimmed and the crown moulding is a custom reproduction of the crown profile in other parts of the house.
